Official: Russia hopes Venezuela to fulfill state obligations

MOSCOW, Jan 30 (PRIME) -- The government is monitoring the political situation in Venezuela, including the risks for Russian companies, but hopes that Caracas will fulfill its obligations, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak told reporters Wednesday.

“It will probably be stupid to deny risks,” he said when asked if the government saw any risks for Russian companies, including oil major Rosneft.

“The hard-to-predict political situation that is currently developing in Venezuela certainly has a relevant impact on existing relations: both intergovernmental relations and relations with companies,” he said.

“We will monitor, we will make decisions, we will hope that regardless of the political situation – if the current regime is maintained or changed – the state obligations will be fulfilled.”
